Highlands & Islands Climate Hub
The Highlands & Islands Climate Hub has the purpose of supporting community-led climate action across the region. The Hub was one of the first in a network of community climate action hubs formed across Scotland to support communities to make a just transition towards net zero and support a climate ready Scotland.
The Hub operates across the Highlands & Islands region with their team ready to assist communities in their climate action journey. From developing new projects with a specific climate action focus or working with community groups to embed more climate friendly behaviours into their existing work. From community engagement, climate action plans, net zero policies to design, development and delivery of a project they can lend additional capacity, support and advice.
HIGHLAND ADAPTS
It’s in their name - Highland Adapts strives to bring together the community of the Highlands to facilitate transformational action towards a prosperous, climate-ready Highland.
The Highland Adapts partnership was formally established in 2021 when nine diverse founding partner organisations committed to working together to drive transformational action towards a prosperous, climate-ready Highland. Since 2021, Highland Adapts has been developing a community of practitioners in the Highlands and supporting their work. You can learn more about the Highland Adapts structure here.
think HEALTH think NATURE
The benefits of nature to our health is unparalleled, Think Health Think Nature were founded by ‘Our Natural Health Service’ with the aim of encouraging more use of the outdoors to tackle physical inactivity, mental health issues and health inequalities.
Think Health Think Nature are believers of green health; Scotland’s natural environment is a resource that can be used to help tackle some of our key health issues. They are very much involved in the Health element of the Charter.
HIGHLAND ENVIRONMENT FORUM
The Highland Environment Forum was established in 2013 and brings together more than 600 members, including individuals, public bodies, businesses, voluntary groups and organisations from across Highland. Through a regular e-newsletter, seminars and social media we share knowledge, experience and chances to get involved in environmental action for nature, climate and health.
Our work with partners to create the Highland Charter for Nature, Climate and Health, and Highland Nature: Biodiversity Action Plan 2021 - 2026 demonstrate the Forum’s commitment to working together with others to achieve change. The Highland Environment Forum is the only group of its kind in Highland region, providing an arena for discussion, networking and action on environmental subjects.
The Forum is funded by Highland Council and Scottish Forestry, and supported by NatureScot.
